Rasyikah Md Khalid

Dr. Rasyikah Md Khalid is an academic member of the Faculty of Law, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). She obtained her PhD from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Masters of Law from Universiti Malaya and Bachelor of Law from University of Sheffield, United Kingdom. In 2012 she successfully completed postgraduate courses in Building Resilience to Climate Change (BRCC) from the United Nations University (UNU) Tokyo and has been appointed as a teaching assistant for the online BRCC courses in UKM. In 2013, she was a visiting researcher at the UNESCO Centre for Water Law, Policy and Science at the University of Dundee Scotland. By undergoing various type of training above, she has equipped herself to be an interdisciplinary researcher. She was also chosen to be one of the Young Scholars in a very competitive workshop organized by the Asian Law Institute, National University of Singapore (NUS). She is currently a certified mediator of the Malaysian Mediator Centre, an important skill which she uses to solve environmental degradation cases.

As an expert in water governance, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rasyikah has been consulted by relevant institutions and mass media on matters pertaining to water issues in the country. She has also been invited to present and moderate local and international seminars. She is an active member of the International Water Association (IWA), the Malaysia Water Association (MWA) and the International Sustainable Development Research Society (ISDRS). She has contributed chapters in international edited books published in Greece, Singapore and Switzerland; and numerous journal articles. She is now researching on climate change adaptation and environmental governance, particularly the local government’s role in solving flood and water pollution, as well as protection of natural resources as a national heritage.
