Ken Sereyrotha

Dr. Sereyrotha Ken, known as Rotha, is currently a Director General, General Directorate of Local Community, Ministry of Environment. He is also a Chair of Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and forest Degradation (REDD+) Task Force/Carbon Crediting Secretariat. Before this role, Rotha was a Director General, General Directorate of Environmental Knowledge and Information, Ministry of Environment. From 2018 to June 2022, Rotha was a Country Program Director for Wildlife Conservation Society in Cambodia. He was a Deputy Secretary-General with a rank as Under-Secretary of State of the National Council for Sustainable Development in Cambodia from 2014 to November 2017. Prior to this, he was Office Chief of Community Protected Areas Development (1997–2003), Deputy Director for Nature Conservation and Protection (2003–2008), and a Deputy Director General of the General Department of Administration for Nature Conservation and Protection in the Ministry of Environment of Cambodia (2008–2014). He has worked for over 20 years with multi-lateral, bilateral, international, and national organizations. His areas of expertise, and his interests, include multi disciplinary and participatory approaches to environmental planning, policy, and sustainable development; green economy; green cities; renewable energy; protected areas management; biodiversity conservation; resource management; and people’s responses and adaptations to climate change, conflict management, and social and organizational change. Rotha has authored several publications. A copy of his publications is available upon request. He published several articles related to natural resource management, REDD+, climate change, sustainable development, and sustainability.
