Papua New Guinea Judiciary Visits ADB to Advance Legal Stability and Investor Confidence

The ADB Office of the General Counsel's Law and Policy Reform (LPR) Program team met with Papua New Guinea’s Deputy Chief Justice and senior court members on 6 January 2025, at the ADB Headquarters, to strengthen judicial capacity for greater legal predictability and stability. Discussions focused on advancing the alternative dispute resolution legal framework for business disputes through Papua New Guinea’s adoption of the Singapore Convention on Mediation, equipping court and security officers with mediation and negotiation skills to enhance investor protection, and building judicial capacity for the newly launched Resources, Environment, and Climate Change Track of the National Court. ADB and the Papua New Guinea Judiciary reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation to foster a stable investment climate and expand access to justice.
