On May 27-28, 2025, ADB’s Law and Policy Reform (LPR) Program organized a transformative two-day training program titled "Developing Innovative Business Models with AI in Uzbekistan" in Tashkent. Organized in collaboration with the Graduate School of Business and Entrepreneurship, the event brought together stakeholders from government, academia, industry leaders, and tech sector experts to explore the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in driving Uzbekistan's digital transformation.

AI is emerging as a critical enabler of Uzbekistan’s economic modernization and innovation-driven growth strategy. The training program underscored the importance of AI in the nation’s digital strategy while providing participants with hands-on and practical insights on adopting AI tools responsibly in business. The distinguished lineup of speakers, that included academics, government leaders, international business leaders and technology experts, shared their experiences and insights on the following themes:

  • AI as a Driver of Innovation: How AI can reshape business models, enhance productivity, and support Uzbekistan’s digital transformation.
  • Generative AI Applications: Practical demonstrations of tools like ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity.
  • Exponential Organizations (ExO): Frameworks for scaling businesses rapidly using AI, with case studies relevant to Uzbekistan’s economic sectors.
  • AI Fundamentals: Machine learning basics, the AI value chain, and how intelligent systems are implemented in real-world scenarios.
  • Ethics and Governance: Exploration of responsible AI use, including legal issues such as IP and privacy, and other emerging ethical considerations.
  • Future of Work: Discussions on how AI is reshaping job roles, workforce strategies, and the importance of digital upskilling.
  • Uzbekistan’s AI Strategy: Insights into the national AI roadmap, regulatory frameworks, and emerging business opportunities.

Uzbekistan is at a pivotal moment in its economic modernization journey and AI will play a critical role in enhancing competitiveness, resilience, and inclusive development. The intense engagement over the two days demonstrates the willingness of both the public and private sector to collaborate in advancing Uzbekistan’s digital agenda.
