The Model Forest Act Initiative (MoFAI) presented the preliminary draft of the Model Framework Forest Act at the 30th Conference of the Parties (COP30) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Forest Pavilion in Belém, Brazil, on 12 November 2025. The launch of the preliminary draft brought together judicial leaders, policymakers, and forest stakeholders to consult on key innovations, identify implementation needs and priorities, and locate entry points for piloting, capacity building, and integration into national legal frameworks. The session built on a series of consultations held since July 2023 across Nepal, the Philippines, Indonesia, Japan, Rome (Italy), New York (United States), the Amazon region, and elsewhere.
