ADB Hosts Discussions with Timor-Leste Prosecutor General on Gender Sensitization and Gender-Based Violence

ADB hosts high-level discussions with the Timor-Leste Prosecutor General after the conclusion of trainings for the entire Timor-Leste prosecution service on gender sensitization and gender-based violence (GBV) cases, from 14-21 August 2023. 

The Prosecutor-General expressed his appreciation for the highly interactive and practical training program and underscored its importance in facilitating effective investigations and prosecutions of GBV offenses. Stefania Dina, ADB Country Director of the Timor-Leste Resident Mission (TRLM), accepted the token of appreciation on behalf of ADB and reaffirmed continuing support for capacity building of prosecutors and development of guidelines and standard operating procedures for GBV case investigations. 

ADB remains committed to strengthening the capacity of justice officers who support Timor-Leste prosecutors through tailored trainings to take place in 2024. The trainings and the development of knowledge resources are supported under the Promotion of Gender-Responsive Judicial Systems TA executed by ADB's Law and Policy Reform Program. ​​​​​​​
