Basic Act on Education, Act No. 120 of 2006 (Japan)
The Act provided for the fundamental principles of education which include the development of individual character that are necessary for a peaceful and democratic nation, the concept of lifelong learning, and equal opportunity in education. It also provides for general principles regulating compulsory education, school education, universities, early education and educational administration, among others.
