Constitution of Afghanistan
The 2004 Constitution was designed to take into account the social, political, and religious dynamic of Afghanistan, and it established an Islamic Republic. The Constitution recognizes Islam as the national religion, commits to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and pledges to fight terrorism and narcotics production. Power is divided between the President, the National Assembly, the Grand Assembly, and the Supreme Court.
Mining Regulations
These Regulations implement provisions of the Minerals Law and aim at: the conservation, management, development and proper use of the mineral resources of the nation; promoting the rational exploration, development, exploitation and mineral processing in a combined effort of the Government and private sector; and at enhancing national growth in a way to safeguard the environment.
Environmental Law
This Law provides for the rehabilitation of the environment, and the conservation and sustainable use of natural resources, living and non-living organisms. The Law consists of 9 Chapters divided into 82 articles.The National Environmental Protection Agency shall be responsible for the implementation of this Law.

This is expected to rise to about 25 percent by 2025. Three-quarters of South Asia’s population lives in rural areas, with one-third living in extreme poverty (on less than a dollar a day).
